Payment Links
Use this method when customers follow ordinary links on your website to Stripe Payment Links on https://buy.stripe.com.
Install and select the method
Section titled “Install and select the method”Open Settings → Website integration → Payment Links. Copy your merchant’s Installation snippet and load it once on referral landing pages and pages containing your Payment Links. Keep the classic defer loading order and place it before downstream checkout code.
The LiftVector script’s src is https://static.liftvector.app/script/liftvector.js. Preserve the merchant, provider, and method attributes from your workspace snippet.
Keep the existing Stripe Payment Link URLs. With this method selected, LiftVector automatically adds the retained token as client_reference_id to recognized links, including those added or changed after page load. Other query parameters and fragments remain intact. You do not need to add data-liftvector to recognized Stripe Payment Links or change a checkout backend for this handoff.
Preserve your own references
Section titled “Preserve your own references”Leave client_reference_id absent so LiftVector can supply it. Existing merchant references are preserved, even when empty or identical to the captured token. If your application already uses the field for an order or customer ID, resolve that conflict first; do not combine values, overwrite a reference blindly, or use metadata as a substitute.
Only script-owned references are refreshed or removed when the captured candidate changes or expires. Missing capture must leave normal checkout available without a referral.
Supported destinations
Section titled “Supported destinations”Automatic Stripe handoff supports recognized HTTPS buy.stripe.com Payment Links. It does not decorate custom Payment Link domains or hosted Checkout Session URLs.
If your anchor points to your own backend, use the Server-Side Checkout anchor instructions. data-liftvector="true" sends via to a merchant endpoint; it does not make an unsupported Stripe URL into a supported Payment Link.
Verify a referred purchase
Section titled “Verify a referred purchase”Follow a current affiliate link and activate the actual Payment Link. Use a sandbox purchase for a sandbox-connected merchant. Inspect the resulting Session’s client_reference_id, confirm collected payment, and check the resulting sale, affiliate attribution, and commission in LiftVector.
Record merchant confirmation after completing setup. A decorated link or confirmation screen alone is not payment proof. See troubleshooting if any stage is missing.
